Everyone CAN hear, not everyone is listening...

Kaleb's tube surgery went well. He had some sort of a laryngeal spasm when they put him under anesthesia but they gave him a shot of something and he was fine. He had a lot of drainage from both ears and a lot of blood but I was told that was all normal. He seems great now.
Zachary's post op check went fine, he can officially hear now. He goes for his 6 month eye check today to make sure his glasses are still working the way they should.
Jerry and I have decided that the boys don't get to go out to dinner with us anymore. Last night was just plain embarrassing. They were behaving so horribly and they never act like that. They were so bad they lost all their marbles (we do marble reward jars) AND had to pay for their own dinner since neither of them even took a bite of their food. Then we put them to bed at 6pm, Kaleb was out by 6:30 and Zachary was out by 7:30, mommy was out by :O

The boys and I leave for California on Saturday and I cannot wait. I've told the boys they will get to meet Mickey Mouse and they are excited too. It'll be a long drive but it's going to be so much fun.

How to get 2 boys to sleep at a decent hour...

Hours after we put the boys to bed, this is what we find...

Fearless...

I thought Zachary was our fearless one with his love of fireworks but he wouldn't get close to this 4 wheeler, Kaleb on the other hand, jumped right on and even rode it with Jerry. The 4 wheeler belongs to BNSF and Jerry brought it home because he is going to use it this weekend at a snake hunt he has to work in BFE. Of course this didn't help my arguments that the boys are too small and would be too scared to get a 4 wheeler like Jerry wants for them (and this is at least twice the size of the ones Jerry has been eying for the boys) I see many emergency room visits in our future...

Slide video

In case anyone missed my video post earlier.

Easter

Easter was good, the boys had fun. We couldn't go outside because of the rain so we did our Easter egg hunt inside but it was still good. Zachary asked when we were done if Santa was coming tomorrow since the Easter Bunny already came, good god no! I explained that Santa wouldn't be coming back for 8 more months, we had to get through his birthday and the summer and Halloween first. He seemed okay with it. Wouldn't it be nice to have no concept of time again?

Surgery set

We'll be going back to Baptist on the 24th. Luckily Kaleb's ear infections don't phase him so it's not a big deal that we have to wait 2 weeks.

Kaleb's surgery...

Tentatively he is scheduled at Baptist (same hospital Zachary went to and we loved) on the 24th of April. I'll get a call today to see if they can get him into an out patient place next week instead. The nurse is very concerned with parent's paying as little as possible so she was researching the best place for us, I wish she had said that was what she was doing because our insurance is awesome and we don't have a co-pay or co-insurance or deductible so no matter where we go it's free to us. Either way, I want Kaleb to get tubes before we leave for California so we don't have to deal with ear infections while we are there.

I'm somewhat anxious about Zachary's post op check on the 22nd, we'll find out then if his hearing is normal or not. I'm pretty sure his will be fine but Kaleb's was even worse so if Zachary even has a small residual loss then Kaleb is likely to have a loss too. Just things to make me worry...

Now Zachary is sick

Seriously, I'm about fed up with everyone being sick all the time. I firmly believe that if the weather would just warm up and stay warm we'd all be better.
Zachary woke up this morning congested and warm. I sent him to school anyway because I don't have any sick time to take off. I figure I'll get a call after nap but at least that is only a couple hours instead of the whole day.
I also think Zachary does not get enough sleep at night, he needs to go to bed at 8, but I've been overruled on that count. I put Kaleb to bed between 7:30 and 7:45 and then want Zachary in bed by 8 but daddy wants to spend time with Zachary so he lets bed time slide to 9pm or later. The boys have to be up at 6:40 so going to bed at or after 9pm is too late for such little boys. I know I hated going to bed early and when the sun was still up when I was little but all the studies show that young kids need a minimum of 10 hours of sleep a night. If we didn't have to be up at the crack of dawn I'd certainly let them boys stay up until 8:30 or 9pm until or unless they had to be up for school.

Still no luck on setting Kaleb's tubes surgery. I swear the lady never answers her phone and I know she is there.

Tubes for Kaleb...

Kaleb's 2 year appointment was yesterday, he is 33.5 inches tall and 27 pounds. He fell to the 25th percentile in both, since birth he has been right at the 50th percentile, but since he is still proportional there is no concern especially since this is the first standing measurements they took, they said standing is more accurate so as long as he doesn't have any big variations from now on we're fine. Then the doctor checked his ears and said they are all puss still/again. So off to the ENT, he said Kaleb's ears are so bad we could have done the appointment over the phone. His ears are worse than Zachary's were. So today I'll call and make the appointment for Kaleb to get tubes. Luckily our insurance covers 100% of the tubes surgery so we don't have to pay anything. That's good news since we've been paying $20-$35 every 2 weeks for doctor appointments plus antibiotics after every visit. It's been a horrible winter for us, hopefully once Kaleb gets tubes we'll all be done being sick.
