Only 1 week until Halloween...

I cannot believe October is almost over...next week we have parent teacher conferences on Tuesday, a meeting to change our escrow account on Wednesday (yes, we lead exciting lives!), we're going to the Oklahoma Aquarium (near Tulsa, about 1.5 hours from here) Halloween deal on Thursday (Zachary doesn't have school on Friday), we'll be at the OKC Zoo Haunt on Friday and do some bona fide trick or treating here locally on Saturday (a first for both the boys). I'm already exhausted just thinking about it.
After next week, we have about a week break of nothing big, then on the 12th of November the boys and I are going to see the stage show Curious George (somehow Jerry got out of this and I'm taking the boys alone...), then little more than a week after that we're heading to Colorado to see Uncle Dr. David and spend Thanksgiving with him. When we return it'll be a rush to get a Christmas tree, decorate the tree and house and put up the Christmas train around the tree, wrap gifts, unwrap gifts, visit Jerry's family, take down the tree, throw the (by that time) hated needle dropping dried out tree outside (where, if years past can foretell the future) the tree will blow around the back yard until a strong enough wind lifts it over our 4 foot high fence and out of our lives, then New Years and then the long, seemingly endless wait for spring....

So to catch everyone up...Zachary had what we think was the flu last week, he's fine, never really knocked him out of anything since he was on fall break. I was noticing yesterday that he seems to have grown a bit but as I'm too lazy to get the tape measure out we'll see at his 5 year well check appointment how much ;-) (and yes, that will be in June of 2010). Then I was sick for a few days, likely the flu also but the 24 hour variety which is not too bad at all. Kaleb is the most stubborn child when it comes to sleep, the kid won't do it until he, quite literally, falls down already asleep - not much on earth is funnier (is that a word?) than watching him dance around the living room, watch his eyes slam shut while still standing then he falls over fast asleep...

Speaking of 2010, can you believe that Y2K was a DECADE AGO?!?! 10 YEARS AGO!?!?! *sigh*

Finally uploaded some new pictures

Daddy, Kaleb and Zachary riding on Thomas in the caboose.

Being naked is huge in this house, this is the boys naked in a toy box

Not a good 24 hours

So Jerry left for his class in Texas yesterday afternoon. The boys have been bouncing off the walls ever since and this is just not the week for it (PMS isn't helping). The boys were sent to bed at 6:30 last night, didn't go to sleep until after 11pm and had to be up at 7 and since they had very little sleep have been cranky and whiny all day. They are now fighting nap. If you live in my area, check Craigslist tonight, there may be a listing for 2 slightly used toddlers to the cheapest bidder...

Zachary's new phrase...

Zachary's new favorite phrase is "buckle up buttercup!" He heard it on t.v., no idea if it was a commercial or show I was watching but I remember hearing it. What's hilarious is that he says it in as a catch phrase in different situations, like if Kaleb is whining about not being able to do something Zachary will say "Buckle up buttercup!" He also says it when they get in the van to get me to buckle them in.

October already...

For Halloween Zachary has decided he wants to be Batman and Kaleb wants to be Scooby Doo.

So I bought Zachary's costume and we brought it home to try it on, we got the jumpsuit part on and he was happy, then I took out the cape/mask (it's all 1 piece) and he freaked out! Started running from me saying he was so scarred and didn't want to be Batman any more. He had been talking about dressing up as Batman since last spring so I knew he would not be happy taking the costume back. I finally caught him and showed him the mast/cape, I had him touch it and asked if we could put it on like a hat. He said no, he wanted the costume off. I brought him into my bedroom and made him look into the full length mirror. He looked and said he liked it. So he finally let me put the mask/cape on as a hat, he will not let it go over his eyes, which is ok since he wears glasses and it would be hard to put it on with glasses. So he's still going to be Batman.

So we found a Scooby Doo costume for Kaleb, the one at Target he originally wanted was $40 so that was a no go. We found a toddler one at Walmart for $17 and since I read the reviews and they all said they ran really small, we tried it on right there in the aisle, as soon as I got it fastened up he looked at me and said "I Cooby" with the biggest smile on his face. It fits, barely but it only has to fit for 1 night.

We're going to visit Chester's Party Barn for their pumpkin patch activities as soon as we have a rain free day after Jerry gets back from Texas, so probably next weekend. It's a neat day, $6 each to get in, a pony ride and pumpkin included for each paid admission, free petting zoo, hay ride, 3 acre maze and a huge slide. Then we have to carve the pumpkins (which we never got around to last year...oops!)

New phrase

"Don't fall me down" / "You fell me down" = don't let me fall, don't knock me down, don't push me (Kaleb)

We had to flush one...

Dump Truck Con died, so did a few of the ghost shrimp but the tank seems balanced and clear so we'll live with the loss :)

Zachary is loving PreK. He's learning his letters and numbers and is doing very good with it all. Kaleb is liking the alone time we get every morning and really likes when I let him sleep in since daddy decided to start going in to work at 9 instead of 8. He loves our target trips because I buy a soft pretzel for us to share if we have time before picking up Zachary.

The boys are at Grandma and Grandpa chicken's this weekend so Jerry and I can enjoy some alone time, or sleep, I'm betting sleep :)

We're still debating on putting in for the transfer to San Berdarnio. It would be a good move for a lot of reasons but we need to know what the pay would be before we make the decision.
