Zachary's hearing

So, apparently Zachary is very nearly deaf at this point, mechanically deaf but deaf none the less. His speech is pretty good, I mean, he's only 3 and yeah he says 'force' instead of 'horse' but he can say 'house' correctly. The tempanagram (sp?) test, -10 is either normal or a score they will try something other than tubes for (I don't remember), Zachary scored -350 in his right ear and his left ear doesn't even register a score. Straight to tubes, do not pass go, do not collect $200. I cannot schedule his surgery until next week because the lady who does the scheduling is out on vacation.
I did ask about permanent hearing loss since Uncle Dr. David had a similar problem and is now permanently deaf in one ear with hearing loss in the other. The doctor said that he would do everything he could and watch Zachary very closely to make sure this doesn't happen to Zachary.

What a beautiful day!

Today is Zachary's ENT appointment. It's already 72 degrees out and not quite noon so the afternoon will be gorgeous. Zachary's appt is at 2:30 so I don't have to come back to work, darn the luck :) I am hoping that Zachary can finally stop antibiotics, he's been on them for over a month now; I'm positive he'll need tubes and hope we can get it taken care of quickly.

Kaleb is all better now. He has starting to talk a lot more which is nice. I have a feeling by summer he'll be all caught up on his speech. Daycare was freaking out because they played outside the other day and when Kaleb came in he had bumps all over his tummy, there were heat bumps. I told them to get ready cause this summer he'll have them everywhere and really bad in his diaper if we don't get him potty trained before then and since he is showing no interest in it at this point I doubt we'll be diaper free this summer.

Need to start planning Kaleb's birthday party. I have a feeling he'll chose Elmo or Mickey Mouse for his theme. I'm excited that he'll sort of know what is going on this year.

Zachary surprised me the other day, he made a comment about how hot air balloons have fire to make them fly and he remembers seeing them when we went. Ok, we went to Albuquerque in 2007! He was 2, not quite 2.5 and he remembers it! He was looking at a trivet we have on the table when he said he remembered them. I know he has a pretty good memory for visual things but didn't know it was that good. He can even tell you where to turn to get to grandpa's house even if we're not going there and just drive by the street! As a result tho, I have high expectations for him when he gets to school, is that bad?

Kaleb...still sick

We brought Kaleb to the doctor on Saturday and she said he has bronchitis and started him on another antibiotic. All day Saturday and Sunday he looked horrible. On Sunday he just wanted to cuddle all day, if I had to get up he would stand by the chair and just wait for me to get back and pick him back up :( His cough sounded like a whistle and he was so hot to the touch all weekend, he barely ate, which for Kaleb is NOT normal. So Monday I took his temp when he got up and it was 100.2, that's day 4 of a fever, called the doctor and by the time we got there his temp had finally gone down (he did lose 1 pound in a week). He was wheezing so she gave him a breathing treatment , he did great! Now he is on albuterol syrup - the stuff makes him so high it's cute. He talks to walls on that stuff :)

Zachary is doing well, still on his antibiotics until the 26th when we see the ENT. He keeps asking to go see his new doctor, goodness, the kid loves doctors and medicine! He is in love with baby dolls, he insists on having "Meadow" and her bottle with him at all times, at school he plays with the dolls there because I won't let him take "Meadow" in, she stays in the car, I tell him I watch her while he's in school :P I think Jerry would rather I got rid of the dolls, you know, "girl toys" (where's the eye roll smilie when you need it?)

I took the baby gate down from the boys' doorway last night. It was the first time I tried to get Kaleb to stay in bed without a barrier, he got up twice before 8:30pm, the last time I asked him if he wanted me to put the gate back up and he said "No" so I told him he had to stay in bed, if he got up one more time I was going to put the gate back up and he stayed in bed!

And what about me? I'm taking a chance and trying a job that I hope/think will be a good fit for me. It sounds too good to be true so I'm leery still. Jerry says I've never been happy at a job, what makes me think I'll be happy at this new one, I don't know but it's not like I'm leaving my 'safe' job so a little support would be wonderful!

Sick again....

Kaleb has a temp of 101.9, ugh! He has been on antibiotics for a double ear infection for over a week with 1-2 doses left, he should not have a temp, so we're off to the doctor tomorrow (Saturday) at 8:45am, so much for a relaxing long weekend...
Zachary seems to be doing better but we need to refill his antibiotics because he is supposed to keep taking them until his ENT appointment on the 26th and depending on when he'll be scheduled for tubes he'll likely stay on the antibiotics until he gets the tubes to prevent another ear infection.
I'm ready for winter to be over!

Zachary's words

Christ man (pronounced like 'wrist man') = Santa
Mr. Pool is his afternoon teacher, Ms. Nicole - it took me 3 months to figure out who this Mr Pool was that he played with every day at school.
To-more-nin = Tomorrow morning (it's Zachary short hand!)
Alexanger = his cousin Alexander - he will fight to the death that it is a "g" and not a "d"
Dress = pants - he constantly asks if daddy has his dress on, hehehe.
Up sleeves = short sleeve shirt
Up pants = shorts
"I want my milk big" = I want the cup filled to the top with milk
Grandma Chicken = Grandma Randy (she has chickens!)
PawPaw = Grandpa Larry (sometimes it's pappy)
Paul-Paul = our neighbor Paul (this is why he calls Grandpa Larry pappy - Paul Paul and pawpaw are too close for him)

Zachary is convinced the sun goes home and sleeps in a bed at night:) He even asked me one day as the sun was rising if the sun was getting dressed and putting on a belt like daddy's and a coat or a jacket? He said the sun wears a brown jacket :)

Zachary also says he needs to eat his vegetables (which he thinks is pizza) so he can get big and sit in the back seat of the van and get a job and make "monies".

ETA 3/9/09:
Gray up pants = blue jean shorts (don't ask!)

Ear Infections for everyone!

Zachary has yet another ear infection, this is about number 5 since November 08. Kaleb's ears were cleaned out (which he fell asleep during!) and he has a double ear infection. So everyone is on antibiotics.
Zachary has an appointment with an ENT on the 26th and we'll be heading for tubes. Since this is Kaleb's first confirmed ear infection we're not being sent to an ENT for him...yet.
