Hearing problems all around....

Zachary has a bunch of pressure built up behind his ear drum which is causing a hearing loss, his hearing through the bone is great so they are sure once they fix the pressure problem he'll have perfect (or at least nearly perfect) hearing. This likely means he'll need tubes at some point.

Kaleb has a wax build up problem. Even with using medication and cleaning his ears regularly his ears produce so much wax it is causing quite a hearing loss, worse than Zachary's. He and Zachary have both been sick for about a week, but once they are over the cough we'll take Kaleb in to have his ears irrigated and cleaned out, hopefully that will solve his hearing problem but we don't know how fast the wax will build up again and if we'll need to take other steps to prevent it. I'm not sure if tubes helps wax problems but have been told it may.

Kaleb has also finally started to talk! Only took the kid 22 months to decide he needed to speak words and not gibberish! Of course the wax/hearing problem is causing him to cut off the end of words so instead of "ball" he'll only say "ba" and also he cannot distinguish some beginning sounds so "doggie" becomes "goggie" but at least he is talking and I'd say is up to at least 15 words that we can understand now, he doesn't string words together yet but he does his own version of sign language to help us understand things.
